Many are ignorant of the many dangers of smoking much less the connection with coronary heart disease. Yet other subscribe to the influences of the pop culture that promotes smoking as macho or elegant. In the past, smoking scenes on television and in the movies are prevalent. Heroes and heroines puffed away as they dazzle with their grit and gilt. Even today, subtle advertising by cigarette companies is very much in evident on television and in the cinema. The brand names are splashed on everything from billboard to cars and watches. It is not surprising that coronary heart disease caused by smoking is a leading cause of death and disability. Smoking inflicts various damages on the human body such as coronary heart disease, respiratory problems, premature aging, arrested development and cancer among others. Smoking causes coronary heart disease by attacking the arteries. Constricted artery is one of the effects of extended exposure to the chemicals from cigarette smoke.
